Jamshedpur’s ticket inspector found dead along railway track

Jamshedpur, Feb 18: A deputy chief ticket inspector (CTI) was found dead along the railway track near Rourkela railway station under Chakradharpur railway division on Thursday morning.

Fifty-year-old man deceased identified as Karunakaran Rao. A resident of Kadma was posted at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district.

A senior official confirmed the death of deputy CTI Karunakaran Rao and said he was killed under mysterious circumstances. ” During investigation we came to know that A Karunakaran Rao who was deputy CTI posted at Chakradharpur was found lying dead along the railway track between Darposh and Sogra flag station on Thursday, ” said an official.

The senior DCM said from the initial investigation it appears that Rao might have fallen down from the Howrah-Pune Azad Express in which he was travelling.

He pointed out Rao had worked as a train ticket examiner (TTE) also and was an experienced person, and his falling down from a running train is near impossible.

“It is too early to comment. The investigation is on. The GRP, Rourkela is investigating the incident after sending the body to a morgue in Rourkela. An autopsy report may unfold the mystery,” said the senior DCM. But sources in the railway said that the deputy CTI was killed on being pushed from the running train by some co-passengers.
