923 new cases in Jamshedpur, no death due to Covid-19
Jamshedpur, Jan 10: Jamshedpur on Monday again reported surge in Covid-19 cases. City reported 923 fresh cases while no death has been recorded in the Steel City in the same period.
Jamshedpur’s positivity rate – the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests – has jumped to 8.91 per cent with the latest addition in cases. 10361 samples were tested on Monday.
Telco, Sakchi, Sonari, Kadma and Bistupur areas of the city have emerged hotspots as more than 2000 cases have been detected till date. Total active cases in Jamshedpur are 4696.
Hotspot Kadma reported 104 fresh cases on Monday, Sonari saw 97 new cases, 66 came up in Telco, 61 in Sakchi and 62 in Bistupur.
The city has been producing a tidal wave of cases over the past days and the surge is believed to be driven by the Omicron variant. The variant is highly transmissible, according to experts.
East Singhbhum’s death toll remained at 1075 after no death was reported on Monday.
On Monday, 923 cases were reported positive taking the total active cases in the city to 4696.
48 cases have been reported from Baridih, 29 each from Chakulia and Golmuri, 6 each from Sitaramdera and Baharagora, 14 from Burmamines, 3 each from Patamda and Potka, 32 from Jugsalai, 12 from Bagbera, 53 from Parsudih, 8 from Sidhgora, 4 from Sundernagar, 7 from Dhalbhumgarh, 54 from Ghatsila, 19 from Musabani, 11 from Birsanagar and 129 from different areas of city.
The positivity rate rose to 2.78 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 57728 and the death count is now 1075, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 10361 tests conducted on Monday. There are 4696 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur.
As many 51957 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 172 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. 10361 COVID-19 tests, including 3430 RT-PCR, 6537 RAT and 394 TrueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 781312 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 91.47% while the mortality rate is 1.86 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 2081097 samples have been collected out of which 2079852 have been tested and 2022124 have turned out to be negative.
