Jamshedpur, July 8: The holy month of Sawan dedicated to Lord Bholenath, will begin on Monday, July 22, lasting for 29 days this year. Every year, thousands of devotees perform Jalabhishek with immense devotion at the Shivalaya of Surya Dham in Sidgora on the third Monday of Sawan. This year, the Surya Mandir Committee is gearing up to make the Jalabhishek Yatra, one of their grandest events, even more special.
Patron Chandragupta Singh, President Bhupendra Singh, Shailesh Gupta, Shashikant Singh, Ruby Jha, Bunty Agarwal, Krishnamohan Singh, and other committee members announced in a media interaction at the temple premises that devotees will have the opportunity to witness the twelve Jyotirlings throughout the month of Sawan.
For devotees who wish to visit the 12 Jyotirlings but cannot due to various reasons, the committee has arranged for their darshan at the spiritual site of Shankh Maidan within the Surya Mandir premises. To ensure the success of the Jalabhishek Yatra, the committee has assigned various responsibilities to different members. Bhupendra Singh mentioned that devotees would gather at Baridih Hari Mandir Maidan from 6 am on Monday, August 5. A group of pandits will then take a pledge of Jalabhishek at the Swarnarekha River amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. Following this, thousands of devotees will form a queue and proceed to the Surya Mandir Shivalaya.
The Jalabhishek Yatra will feature devotional music, a huge Shivling, attractive tableaux, horses, decorated chariots, and groups of youths carrying saffron flags, all serving as major attractions.
Religious rituals are performed in Shankh Maidan
Jamshedpur, July 8: Chandragupt Singh, a patron of the Surya Mandir Committee, clarified that the committee has never objected to the construction projects within the temple premises, such as the children’s park, swimming pool, new arch gate, and basketball court. However, Shankh Maidan remained a crucial area as it was the sole site for performing all religious rituals and events of the Surya Mandir Committee.
Singh emphasized that Shankh Maidan was kept clear to manage the large crowds during events and to ensure the smooth execution of programs without any obstructions. Any construction in this area would not only reduce its size but also negatively impact the successful hosting of numerous events and pose security concerns.
Addressing remarks by MLA Saryu Rai, Singh explained that the committee had installed a grill-like gate, not a wall, which was later removed. Vastu Shastra experts deemed the obstruction in front of Surya’s chariot as inauspicious. To avoid any negative implications, the committee relocated the grill gate to the side. Singh stressed that no MLA/MP funds were used for this; the temple was built entirely at the committee’s own expense. (w/gsd)
Arghya arrangement for offering water
Jamshedpur, July 8: To accommodate the large crowds of devotees and those observing fasts, the Surya Mandir’s Siddheshwar Dham Shivalaya will implement an Arghya system for offering water, similar to the practice at Baba Baidyanath Dham. Additionally, live video broadcasts of devotees offering water in the Shivalaya will be projected on two large LED screens.
Over two hundred volunteers from the Surya Mandir Committee will manage the arrangements and control traffic. After the water offering, Mahaprasad will be distributed to devotees at the spiritual site of Shankh Maidan. Separate counters for the distribution of Prasad and drinking water will be set up to ensure smooth operations.
