Jamshedpur, June 14: K Prabhakar Rao, Secretary of the Jharkhand Badminton Association and Joint Secretary of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), has been appointed to lead the Indian Para Badminton team at the upcoming Asian Para Badminton Championship to be held in Nakhon, Thailand, from June 17 to July 2, 2025.
Rao also serves as Chairman of Para-Badminton India and holds the distinction of being the first individual from East India to head the national para-badminton body. With over a decade of experience in BAI, his leadership has been credited with strengthening para-badminton in the country. BAI officials have expressed confidence that India will perform exceptionally well under his guidance on the international stage.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rao expressed pride in representing India and Jharkhand. He shared that the team is well-prepared and is aiming to bring home 7–8 medals. He also confirmed that renowned para-badminton coach Gaurav Khanna will lead the training team.
Mr. Rao has been a committed figure in Indian badminton, having mentored numerous players and contributed to the sport’s growth over the years. His appointment has brought pride to the state of Jharkhand and the national badminton community.
The Indian para-badminton contingent is optimistic and ready for a strong performance in Thailand.
