Jamshedpur, Sept 5: Ishita De, vice principal of Tarapore School, Agrico received the National Teachers Award at the Deputy Commissioner Office on Saturday. The award was conferred after President Ram Nath Kovind’s address was held online. Ishita was given the award by DDC Parmeshwar Bhagat of East Singhbhum in the presence of District Education Officer SD Tigga, District Education Superintendent Vineet Kumar.
The event went online for the first time due to COVID-19. Ishita De, a teacher at Tarapore School, received the teacher’s highest honor today, but she received her first prize in student life when she attended Rajendra Vidyalaya Sakchi. Ishita finished third in class eight.
Despite being a teacher of another subject, she adopted a new innovative method to explain Mathematics in a simple way. She adopted Tangraine School of Potka and two other schools in Musabani, works three days a week to teach the children there.
Instituted in 1958, the National Award to Teachers is conferred by the union ministry of human resources development on Teacher�s Day every year to give public recognition to meritorious teachers working in primary, middle and secondary schools. The recipients are chosen by a state-level selection committee or the Central Award Committee presided over by director (education) or the head of any organisation with a nominee of the Union government as a member. The award carries a silver medal, certificate, and Rs 50,000 as prize money.
