Jamshedpur: Jusco is setting up a green patch nearly an acre area of land close to the existing Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) traffic Island in Sakchi. The initiative is a part of its multi-crore (nearly Rs 1.5-crore) traffic redesigning plan.
An official said that a green patch is being developed near JNAC Traffic Island. Work has started and the idea is to develop of the space for the benefit of masses and also the commuters using this stretch.
The patch will have sitting arrangements, plantation of shady trees and joggers track.
Incidentally, once developed it will be citys first such green spot in commercial area. The proposed park with a boundary wall will also have fountains and swings for children along with proper lighting facilities so that it can be used by shoppers coming to Sakchi.
Significantly, Sakchi will also see another park-cum-picnic spot to be inaugurated in September near Bari Maidan. The park boasts of a 1.5 km-long nature trail with a combination of walkers track, long palm trees interspersed with water cascades, sitting arrangements, toilets , washrooms and drinking facility.
We want to open more facilities for picnickers, walkers, fitness enthusiasts and visitors of Sakchi and nearby areas of Bistupur, Kasidih, Baradwari, Northern Town, Circuit House, and Jugsalai who otherwise had to depend on Jubilee Park for their needs. This will help to reduce rush on Jubilee Park too, said an official of JUSCO.
Jamshedpur is the first planned industrial city of India with a history of over 100 years covering 64 sq km with a population base of over 8 lakhs. The civic amenities and municipal services in Jamshedpur are maintained by Jusco.
Jamshedpur has one of the highest green cover (more than 27 per cent) in India having 30 big and small community parks covering an area of over 300 acres. In the last decade Jusco has planted over 12 lakhs trees in town to maintain the air quality.
Jusco has constantly been working for making Jamshedpur a green city and the upcoming park is a step towards the same.
In the last five years Jusco has converted more than 10 waste lands and encroached areas into parks namely Golmuri Park, Baridih Park, Kagalnagar Park, Golmuri Joggers Park, Agrico Joggers Park, Shastrinagar Joggers Park, Kadma Park, Gangotri Park, Nagarkot Park, Nildih Park, Shatabdi Park, etc.
All these parks were either encroached or were place for anti social activities. Jusco with the help from local residents converted those areas into parks for the benefit of the users.
