Jamshedpur: Dr. Rajiv Thakur, a renowned dermatologist from Jamshedpur, has been appointed as the National Joint Secretary of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADBL). He assumed charge during the annual conference held in Rajasthan.
Dr. Thakur, who has also served as the Joint Secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jamshedpur branch, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating that it is an honour for the entire state. “So far, only two doctors from Jharkhand have been selected for this prestigious position,” he remarked.
Highlighting the selection process, Dr. Thakur explained that candidates must fulfill multiple criteria before being eligible to contest elections for the national team. He acknowledged the increased responsibilities that come with this role and emphasized his commitment to public health initiatives.
Under his leadership, IADBL will introduce several social welfare programs, including ‘Chalo Pathshala,’ ‘Gaon Ki Or,’ and ‘Community Dermatology’. These initiatives aim to educate people about skin diseases and provide free medical consultations. “There are still many misconceptions about conditions like white spots and leprosy and we will work extensively to spread awareness and eliminate stigma,” he added.
