Jamshedpur, Aug 14: Fifteen people died of coronavirus in Jharkhand on Friday, August 14 taking the toll to 224 in the state. Eight deaths have been reported in Jamshedpur, two deaths each were reported in Deoghar, Ramgarh and Ranchi while one person succumbed to the virus in Hazaribagh.
Jamshedpur recorded 8 deaths including a doctor on Friday till the filing of this report. Dr Manish Murari Agarwal, resident of Golmuri in Jamshedpur has become the first doctor in Jharkhand to have died of the virus. 71-year-old Dr Agarwal was admitted to TMH on August 1 with fever and breathing problem and died during treatment on Friday. Dr MM Agarwal has been former Civil Surgeon of East Singhbhum district and life time member of Indian Medical Association (IMA). This was informed by Dr Mritunjay Singh, general secretary of IMA. 58-year-old Birsanagar resident was admitted to TMH on August 7 with pneumonia and breathing problem. He died on August 14. Third death in Jamshedpur was reported from Birsanagar where 60-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on August 12 with breathing problem and she died during treatment on August 14. 72-year-old Telco Ramdhin Bagan resident was admitted to TMH on August 10 died on August 14. 79-year-old Dhatkidih jeweler also succumbed to the virus on Friday. The death toll in East Singhbhum stands at 109 while 124 patients have succumbed to the virus at TMH, MGM and Tinplate Hospital.
COVID-19 tally in Jharkhand has crossed 22,000 mark on Friday, August 14 with 1175 new cases reported till the filing of this report.
1175 fresh cases were reported in the state on Friday taking the state tally to 22125, till the filing of this report.
565 people have recovered and were discharged from various COVID hospital�s across the state on Friday.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally is nearing 3600 mark.
169 new cases were reported on Thursday, August 13 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 3592.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 169 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Friday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
With 8 deaths in Jamshedpur on Thursday the death toll in East Singhbhum district has crossed 109 mark. 124 patients have died across three hospitals in the city including TMH, MGM and Tinplate Hospital.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 12, Chatra 18, Deoghar 14, Dhanbad 23, Dumka 27, East Singhbhum 169, Garhwa 27, Giridih 107, Godda 18, Gumla 19, Hazaribagh 66, Jamtara 6, Khunti 6, Koderma 83, Latehar 22, Lohardaga 23, Pakur 1, Palamu 47, Ranchi 276, Sahebganj 28, Seraikela 36, Simdega 31 and West Singhbhum 38. The state corona tally has climbed to 22125.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.
The order will come into effect from August 1. Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.
The order said that �All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.�
