City records 183 new infections, 600 recoveries, 8 deaths
Jamshedpur, May 20: Jamshedpur has logged less than 200 daily coronavirus cases for the first time after April 7. It appears to be early signs that the more dangerous Covid wave is receding from the city. The Steel City’s case positivity rate has also dropped to 5.54 percent.Â
The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur is around 5.54 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 6500 tests in the last 24 hours. The Steel City tested 6694 samples, of which, 183 turned out positive while 600 people recovered from the Covid-19 on Thursday, May 20. Earlier on April 7, Jamshedpur recorded 149 positive cases.
Meanwhile, 8 deaths were recorded in the same duration. The continuous high number of tests have pushed the positivity rate further down to 5.54 per cent, the government data showed.
The recovery rate has climbed to 91.02 % while the active cases have come down to 3520.
600 positive people recovered of the virus on Thursday pushing the recovery mark to 43581.
Deaths due to the virus continue to be sign of worry as 8 people succumbed due to Covid on Thursday, May 20, East Singhbhum Covid bulletin said.
City reported 8 deaths on Thursday while district’s positive cases tally has mounted to 48064. According to the data provided by the East Singhbhum district health department on Thursday 8 fatalities were due to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours. The death toll has climbed to 963.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 326094 test per million in the district.
As per the records of health department out of 6694 people who underwent Covid tests in East Singhbhum 183 were found positive.
Over 6500 COVID-19 tests, including 2356 RT-PCR and 3936 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 91.02% while the mortality rate is 2%.
So far in Jamshedpur 872395 amples have been collected out of which 868062 have been tested and 815999 have turned out to be negative.
