Jamshedpur, April 28: Power crisis in Jharkhand is not only affecting the citizens, but also the industries that depend on the state government owned electricity distribution companies for production.
In Adityapur Industrial Area of Seraikela-Kharsawan, the situation has become grim with the production of around 900 companies going down by 50 per cent due to power shortage.
According to sources, “Inadequate power supply has seriously affected production in the majority of companies here. Those companies that largely depend on electricity supply from Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) are the worst affected. While major companies with good resources avail power supply by Tata Steel UISL, there are smaller companies which are still dependent on the state-owned power suppliers. Such companies are finding it hard to survive.”

Santosh Khaitan, president, Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA), “Those companies who had forgot using generators are now forced to use the same for power supply day and night. Talks are on with the electricity department, but we have not been able to make out as to how long it will take the power scenario to become normal.”
