Jamshedpur, Jan 11: In an endeavour to promote fitness among youths, a Cyclocity tour was conducted by FastStep organisation led by Sushanto, Aparajita, Deepak Chaudhary, Ajay Agarwal and Mohit Jha. The cycle tour was designed in a way as a health awareness activity and for welcoming the New Year for a healthier life and fitter living. The idea was also to promote cycling as a means of fitness .
A total of 60 participants participated in the tour.People from all age groups participated and the Covid 19 protocols were also followed. The tour started from Dorabji Tata Park to move to Link Road and concluded at the Absolute Gym. National championship cyclist Awtar Singh flagged off the cycle tour.
Sushanto Singha, a fitness freak said with growing passion about fitness in the Steel City, cycling has brought together the young and old to pedal long and wide across the city.
“We wanted to remind people and raise awareness about the perks of cycling in their weekly schedule . Not only does it keep you fit physically it also rejuvenates and keeps you agile mentally. On the other hand we spread the message on to save water and reduce pollution,” said Aparajita Apra, a young participant from Faststep.
The people were also excited to interact with cyclists as they spoke about their responsibilities in protecting the environment and maintaining green protocol.
“We should adopt such healthy practices. It will be better not only for our environment, but for our future health as well. Environment protection is not something to be observed only for programmes and functions. It is something that we should imbibe in our lives. It can easily be done if we have the conviction and will,” said another participant.
