Jamshedpur youth stabbed to death over property dispute at Mango

Jamshedpur, Oct 16: A youth was stabbed to death by his cousin brother over a property dispute at Daiguttu under Mango police station area on Friday morning.

The victim identified as Uttam Kumar Sahu was attacked after a dispute over dumping household garbage at a disputed land by one of his family members in the morning. The incident took place in front of the victim’s house at Teli Line at Daiguttu at about 8 am today. 

According to information, Uttam who was the only son of Madan Sahu among his four children took a fight with his cousin brothers Sujeet, Sumeet, Monu and Sonu.  Suddenly, one of the cousins, Sumeet, took out a dagger and attacked the victim.  When Madan Sahu tried to save his son from the attackers, three others attacked him also and seriously injured him.  After injuring Madan, the accused Sumeet thrusted the dagger in Uttam’s chest, causing him to fall down.

The family members said after Uttam fell down, Madan Sahu rushed him to MGM Medical College Hospital where the doctors on emergency duty declared him dead.

Soon after the incident a police party led by the OC, Mango police station, Mithilesh Kumar reached the medical college hospital for investigation.  The police seized the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

“We are investigating the incident. The murder took place in a dispute over landed property of the Sahu family.  We have taken Anirudh Prasad Sahu, who is the elder brother of Madan Sahu and one of his sons in custody.  There were three more attackers who are on the run after the murder took place.  We are trying to nab them,” said Mithilesh Kumar.
