Jamshedpur writer Anshuman Bhagat brutally attacked

Jamshedpur: The gruesome attack on renowned writer Anshuman Bhagat has sent shockwaves across the city. On March 1, a group of criminals not only physically assaulted him but also violated his dignity. This barbaric incident has once again highlighted how criminals seem to operate above the law, while the police are allegedly shielding them.

The attack took place around 5:15 PM when Anshuman Bhagat was alone at his residence. The assailants included Mukesh Singh (39), Jitendra Singh (40), and two of their accomplices. They brutally thrashed Anshuman, hurled casteist slurs at him, forced alcohol on him, and then attempted to destroy his dignity. Reports suggest that the criminals even subjected him to unnatural acts, crossing all limits of cruelty. When Anshuman resisted, they attempted to strangle him and tied his hands and legs. He was also threatened with dire consequences if he reported the incident to anyone, with warnings that his family would also be targeted.
Sources reveal that Mukesh Singh and Anshuman Bhagat were once good friends. However, tensions arose when Anshuman exposed Mukesh’s illegal activities and reported them to the Enforcement Directorate. In retaliation, Mukesh allegedly orchestrated false accusations against Anshuman, leading to his imprisonment. The latest assault appears to be an act of vengeance, reflecting Mukesh’s deep-seated animosity.
Despite the severity of the crime, no arrests have been made so far. Reports indicate that the Sitaramdera police station is allegedly trying to protect the accused, failing to take any strict action against them. Adding to the outrage, the accused have been openly posting threats on social media, boasting about their influence and claiming that police and courts operate under their control. These statements indicate a blatant disregard for law enforcement and the judiciary, raising concerns about the state of governance.
“This incident raises serious questions about the administration’s ability to uphold justice. Can money and power manipulate the legal system so easily? Anshuman Bhagat has urged the authorities to take immediate action against the culprits. He has warned that failure to do so will only embolden criminals, posing a greater threat not just to him but to society as a whole.
This brutal attack serves as a grim reminder that if the administration fails to act decisively, it will send a dangerous message to society. The people of Jamshedpur must ask themselves whether they wish to live in a society where criminals operate with impunity. It is everyone’s responsibility to stand up for their rights and security to ensure that such heinous crimes are never repeated. The administration is expected to take strict action in this case and ensure that those who violate the law face the consequences,” noted a social worker.
