Jamshedpur, July 10: Newly appointed vice chancellor of Jamshedpur Women’s University Anjali Gupta had a courtesy call on Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai.
During this, Gupta talked about the problems of the students of Jamshedpur Women’s University and Women’s College Inter. He said that according to the rules of UGC, intermediate studies cannot be conducted in any university. The number of students studying Inter in the erstwhile Women’s College is around 4000.
After 10th, the girls who have enrolled in class 11th are upset that the process of enrollment has stopped after the formation of women’s university. The process of enrollment is going on in all the colleges located in Jamshedpur but the enrollment in Jamshedpur Women’s College is closed. The Vice-Chancellor told them that she has sought guidance from the education department of the Government of Jharkhand and Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) regarding this, but no reply has come so far.
According to the Vice Chancellor, after the Jamshedpur Women’s College Jamshedpur Women’s University is formed, the government has to take a decision about whether the Inter studies will be held here or not. In the course of the conversation, two options emerged. Firstly, the government should issue an ad-hoc order that until an alternative arrangement is made, Inter education will continue in the Women’s College. For at least 2 to 4 years, Intermediate studies should be done in Women’s College only. For this, the post of a new principal should be approved in the Women’s College, who will be called the Principal of the Women’s College, which will be related to JAC In fact, this decision should have been taken by the Jharkhand government at the same time when the government had decided to make Jamshedpur Women’s College a women’s university.
Another option may be to convert the high schools of Jamshedpur into women’s inter colleges. Necessary structures of inter-college should be erected in these schools within 2 to 4 years. As serious as the concern of the girl students pursuing Intermediate is the concern of the four dozen female heads who are already appointed for Inter to teach the students. Rai has said that he has sought time to hold talks with the Governor in this matter, as well as he will talk to the Education Minister and Education Secretary of the state regarding this.
