Vital decisions taken at maiden meeting of Academic Council

Jamshedpur, Sep 21: Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) will soon be starting miscellaneous job-oriented certificate and diploma courses pertaining to auxiliary nursing and midwifery, cyber law, artificial intelligence (AI), music, tissue culture technology, applied food, microbiology, serieculture, mushroom culture technology, forensic science, digital marketing, event management, GST and hotel management. The deans of various faculties would take responsibility of these courses. This was informed today by Professor Dr Anjila Gupta, Vice Chancellor, JWU, after the maiden meeting of the Academic Council of the university.
The meeting started with the garlanding of a portrait of Goddess Saraswati. JWU Registrar Dr Prabhat Kumar Singh delivered the welcome speech. He spoke on the significant role played by the Academic Council in shaping the future of the university and its students.
“All necessary resources would be made available to ensure quality of vocational training courses as their demand is high today,” said the VC.
The Academic Council decided to increase the number of seats in various undergraduate courses and start JWU Research Entrance Test under UGC Regulation 2016. It was further decided to appoint retired teachers and non-teaching staff on a fixed honorarium basis. Sports teachers would also be appointed soon, said the VC, adding that the MA Yoga course would be renamed as MA in Yogic Science.
