Jamshedpur Women’s University students promote ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in Ghaghidih Village

Jamshedpur: On the fourth day of the seven-day camp organized by the NSS department of Jamshedpur Women’s University, students embarked on a mission to raise awareness about the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative. The awareness rally, held in the Ghaghidih Panchayat area, saw enthusiastic participation from the students, who actively raised slogans and spread the message of women’s empowerment and education.

Through engaging street plays, the students highlighted key government schemes aimed at the welfare of women and children, such as the Janani and Child Protection Scheme, Maiya Samman Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and Kaushal Bharat – Kushal Bharat. Their efforts were met with positive feedback from the villagers, who were keen to learn about these initiatives.

“We are proud to be a part of this campaign to spread awareness among the rural population. It’s vital for women and children to be informed about the government schemes that can benefit them,” said an NSS volunteer.

In addition to the awareness campaign, sanitary pads were distributed among rural women to ensure their well-being. Children in the area were also given stationery items like pencils, colours, and erasers, aiding their educational needs.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Maneka, Principal of Government Middle School, ward member Ramesh Das, former Mukhiya Lakshmi, social worker Kartik Patra, and several villagers, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative.

The NSS team, led by Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti and Officers Dr. D. Pushpa Lata, Dr. Sunita Kumari, and Dr. Chhaganlal Agarwal, worked tirelessly to make the event a success. “This initiative is a small step towards creating a better future for women and children in our society,” said Dr. Purti, highlighting the significance of such awareness campaigns.
