Jamshedpur: NSS volunteers from Jamshedpur Women’s University organized a Jal Mahotsav today to support the Government of India’s Jal Jeevan Mission. The campaign aimed to spark community action regarding safe drinking water, conservation, and effective water management.
Awareness Through Art and Action
The NSS unit utilized creative outreach methods to engage the public on water security:

Awareness Rally & Posters: Students marched through local areas carrying informative posters to highlight the urgency of saving water.

Street Plays (Nukkad Natak): Volunteers performed dramatic skits to demonstrate practical ways to manage water resources and prevent wastage.

Hygiene Drive for Street Vendors
In addition to water conservation, the students conducted a cleanliness drive targeting local food vendors and cart owners. They shared vital messages on maintaining food hygiene and ensuring the safety of consumables sold to the public.
Leadership and Support
Several university leaders played a key role in the program’s success, including DSW Dr. Kishwar Ara, Proctor Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu, Dean of Commerce Dr. Deepa Sharan, and Program Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti. Program Officers Dr. D. Pushpalata and Dr. Chhaganlal Agarwal also coordinated the field activities.
