Jamshedpur, July 15: To foster creativity and business temper in students and provide financial support to institutions, Jamshedpur Women�s College (JWC) has decided to set up Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) to support and encourage start-ups.
The idea is to promote students to run successful enterprises. The centre will promote the concept of self employment.
The Atal Incubation Centres will provide multiple facilities to innovators and start-up entrepreneurs for developing solutions.
�It is our ambitious project. The centre would provide necessary and adequate infrastructure along with high quality assistance or services to start-ups in their early stages of growth.
It is a part of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and we have decided to embark on the idea of start-ups among girls in the college,” said Shukla Mahanty, principal, Jamshedpur Women’s College.
Moreover, the Jamshedpur Women’s College which received grade A from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore last time will once again apply for accreditation this year. The college underwent the inspection in 2011 and will complete five years this year.
“During the meeting we decided to take several initiatives to promote quality education. We also aim to get better grades. What we decided in the meeting is to initiate new activities, department wise seminars,” said.
Mahanty said that the college is also heading to join the National Knowledge Commission, a high speed multi-gigabit network, that will provide a unified high speed network for educational institutions in India.
The National Knowledge Network constituted in 2009 is said to be the largest e-network in the country in the education sector. The college will have to pay Rs 7 lakh to be a part of the network.
It may be noted that Jamshedpur Women’s College was established in 1953 with aim to provide the women of Jamshedpur a platform to shape their careers and lives.
With time were the demands of the society and the nation grew and changed.
The college, a constituent unit of Kolhan University, has been conferred �College with Potential for Excellence� and �Conferment of Autonomous Status� by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. It offers UG, PG, several vocational and add-on courses and B.Ed programmes.
