Jamshedpur woman falls victim to rash driving near Keenan Stadium

Jamshedpur, May 16: In a tragic incident that unfolded earlier today, a 40-year-old vegetable seller woman became the unfortunate victim of a reckless driving incident involving a group of youths on a bike near Sacred Heart Convent School under Bistupur Police station. The incident occurred in the morning, leaving three others injured.

After the incident, the injured were taken to MGM Hospital. From where an injured person has been referred to RIMS of Ranchi for better treatment. The deceased Malu Pramanik (40) was a resident of Sonari Khuntadih while the injured Kirtan Pramanik is the brother of the deceased. At the same time, two youths riding a bike are also injured.

Identified as Mali Pramanik, the woman was a resident of Sonari where she would sell vegetables. She was going to Sakchi along with her brother Kirtan Pramanik to buy vegetables when the mishap took place.

According to eyewitnesses, on the day near the convent school, youths perform rash driving stunts. Even today the youths who got injured in road accidents were also doing stunts.

A police team rescued the victims and rushed them all to MGM medical college hospital where the doctors on emergency duty declared the woman dead and referred Kirtan Pramanik to RIMS.

Later the bike rider was shifted by his family members to Tata Main Hospital for better treatment. The auto-rickshaw driver, however, managed to escape with a minor injury.

The police seized both the vehicles and sent the body to MGM medical college for postmortem having registered a case in connection to the incident.

Law enforcement authorities were quick to respond to the incident, promptly cordoning off the accident site and launching an investigation into the matter. Preliminary investigations suggest that the bike riders were speeding and lost control, resulting in the collision with the auto-rickshaw. The identities of the bike riders involved in the incident have not yet been disclosed, but local authorities are actively working to locate and apprehend them.

“As per our initial probe the mishap took place due to the fault of the bike rider. He was riding at a very high speed, probably performing a stunt near the Dorabji Tata Park, ” said Bistupur police station OC.

Residents in the vicinity expressed their concern over the increasing incidents of rash driving and called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such accidents from recurring. They emphasized the need for greater awareness and responsibility among motorists to ensure the safety of all road users.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist them in their efforts to bring the culprits to justice. They have also reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of the community and taking appropriate measures to curb such reckless behaviour on the roads.
