Jharkhand heats up: IMD warns of dry and hot weather
Jamshedpur: The weather in Jharkhand is expected to remain dry and clear over the next 72 hours, according to the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre. With no significant synoptic weather conditions prevailing over the state, most regions will continue to experience bright and sunny days.
The IMD has predicted a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next few days. The absence of moisture incursion or any active weather system means that no thunderstorms or rainfall activity is expected in the coming days, keeping the state under dry and warm conditions.
On Wednesday morning, most districts of Jharkhand woke up to clear skies, with temperatures already showing an increasing trend. As per the latest meteorological data, Daltonganj recorded one of the highest maximum temperatures in the state, fluctuating between 37 and 38 degrees Celsius. Ranchi, the state capital, experienced a relatively cooler day with the maximum temperature settling at around 31 degrees Celsius. In Jamshedpur and several other parts of the Kolhan region, including Chaibasa and Seraikela, the maximum temperature hovered around 34-35 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature trend also varied across the state, with Khunti recording the lowest minimum temperature at 15 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the rising daytime heat. Meanwhile, visibility conditions remained largely stable across the state, except in Jamshedpur, which recorded the lowest visibility of 2000 meters.
Meteorologists have indicated that the coming days will see further increases in temperature, potentially making the weather uncomfortably warm, particularly in the western and central parts of Jharkhand. Areas like Palamu, Garhwa, and Chatra are expected to witness higher temperature spikes. Given the prevailing dry conditions and the continuous rise in temperatures, authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions against heat-related ailments. People are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours, and wear light and breathable clothing to cope with the heat.
While the state continues to reel under rising temperatures, farmers and agricultural workers are closely monitoring the situation, hoping for some relief from the intense heat in the coming weeks. However, as per the current forecast, Jharkhand is expected to remain under dry conditions for the foreseeable future. Any signs of pre-monsoon activity will be closely monitored by the meteorological department.
