Jamshedpur Weather: IMD predicts light rain in north-western and north-eastern Jharkhand, rise in temperature ahead

Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall in parts of north-western and north-eastern Jharkhand on Friday and Saturday, corresponding to February 28 and March 1. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre released the forecast today, highlighting the possibility of localized rain showers in these regions over the next two days.

The weather bulletin also suggested a 2-3 degree Celsius increase in the minimum temperature from tomorrow onwards. Meteorologists attribute this to the ongoing retreat of winter, which is leading to a gradual rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures across the state. The seasonal transition marks the end of winter’s grip, paving the way for warmer days ahead.

Despite the rain forecast, no significant synoptic condition prevails over Jharkhand at present. However, satellite imagery has detected a cyclonic circulation hovering over Rajasthan at an altitude of approximately 0.9 km above the mean sea level. This weather system is expected to influence the local weather patterns, contributing to light rain in some parts of Jharkhand.

Today’s temperature data indicates varying minimum temperatures across major cities in Jharkhand. Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, reflecting the impact of the retreating winter. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur experienced a warmer night with a minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Daltonganj recorded a cooler 13 degrees Celsius.

Chatra stood out for registering the state’s lowest minimum temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius, showcasing significant regional variations in night temperatures. The cooler temperature in Chatra can be attributed to its geographical location and the influence of local weather patterns.

The forecasted rainfall is expected to be light and localized, with no significant disruptions anticipated. However, residents in north-western and north-eastern districts are advised to be prepared for light showers, particularly during the evening and night hours on Friday and Saturday.

The gradual rise in temperature is likely to bring relief from the lingering winter chill, especially during the early morning and late evening hours. The IMD has advised people to adjust their clothing accordingly and stay hydrated as daytime temperatures start to climb.

According to meteorologists at Ranchi Meteorological Centre, the absence of a significant synoptic system over Jharkhand indicates that the upcoming rainfall is primarily influenced by the cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. This system is likely to induce light rain as it moves eastwards, affecting weather patterns in neighboring states, including Jharkhand.
