Jamshedpur, June 17: A delegation of vegetable vendors united under the banner of Wholesale and Retail Vegetable Sellers Association staged a demonstration before the Jamshedpur Collectorate to protest against the recent hike in holding tax. The protestors alleged that the hike in holding tax was arbitrary and beyond their paying capacity. They said the state government should either withdraw the notification or reduce the holding tax considerably to suit their demands.
The vendors sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Hemant Soren through the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum. They said the bills sent by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee were beyond their expectation and ability to pay.
