Jamshedpur, March 5: Golmuri police arrested two persons for alleged links with gangster Kanhaiya Singh here on Sunday. They also confiscated four pistols and bullets from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Vikas Jaisawal and Prabhunath Jaisawal. An associate of the duo, Ashish Jaisawal, fled from the scene, said Superintendent of Police (City) K Vijay Shankar.
“We had got a tip-off about the accused persons being present in Garabasa at Golmuri. A team was set up to raid the place. It was led by ASP City Shubhanshu Jain. Police raided Vikas’s house. Ashish, who was present there, escaped,” said the SP.
The SP said Vikas and Prabhunath manhandled the cops before being arrested. He said the two worked for Kanhaiya Singh and demanded extortion money from various city businessmen and contractors.
“The two fire at victims on Kanhaiya’s orders. Ashish was jailed earlier in a murder case lodged at Sitaramdera police station. We will be taking Vikas and Prabhunath on remand for further interrogation,” said the SP. The SP said city police were trying to finish the Akhilesh Singh gang by identifying its financers and blocking their funding. Several financers are on police radar and they will be caught soon, he said.
