Jamshedpur, May 17: Forest department launched a crackdown against illegal scrap yards on Tuesday.
A team of forest officials bulldozed two scrap yards running on forest department’s land near Polytechnic College on Tata-Kandra Road. A huge police deployment was made at the demolition site. The campaign was led by Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Pramod Kumar. He said the department was continuously getting inputs regarding illegal scrapyards running on its land near Polytechnic College.
Sources said the scrapyard owners, identified as Timal Jaisawal of Jugsalai and Surendra Singh of Gamharia, fled the scene to evade arrest. An investigation is on and the accused persons would soon be in police net, officials said.
