RPF arrest 28-year-old man for stealing goods from Gamharia Station area

Jamshedpur, March 19 : A 28-year-old man was arrested by RPF for stealing petty goods from Gamharia Station area on Tata-Sini section under Chakradharpur railway division of South Eastern Railway on Friday evening. A tweet by a victim’s husband led the RPF to detect the gold chain snatcher, Somu Prasad, a resident of Burmamines in Jamshedpur.

The railway police have also recovered a portion of the gold chain he had snatched from a middle-aged woman on Tata-Danapur Express on Friday evening.

RPF inspector, MK Sona said that they nabbed Somu on Friday evening while he was trying to flee from a running train.

“We came into action when we saw a man jumping from the train (Tata-Danapaur Express) and fleeing near Gamharia Station gave him a chase and caught him. On searching his bag, they found some iron materials from the bag that the accused was carrying. We sent him to Ghaghidih Central Jail,” said Sona.

The RPF inspector said later on Saturday evening they got a tweet posted by Gopal Singh to the rail ministry mentioning that a man, about 28-year-old, had attempted to snatch the gold chain from his wife on Tata-Danapur Express on Friday evening.

“On receiving instruction from our headquarter (Garden Reach) and going through the tweet we focused our attention on Somu and took him on remand on Monday. During interrogation, he confessed to have tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman’s neck in Tata-Danapur Express on Friday, said an official.
