Jamshedpur, March 27: Jamshedpur has been placed under an unprecedented security blanket for Ram Navami, with the steel city transforming into a virtual fortress to ensure the festival unfolds in complete peace and dignity.

Draped in saffron hues and devotional fervour, the city not only celebrated the birth of Lord Ram but was under an all-encompassing surveillance grid—where every movement was tracked and every contingency anticipated.

Nearly 2,000 security personnel, backed by 340 CCTV cameras and eight drone units, was monitoring the city round the clock.

From streets and procession routes to immersion ghats and even the skies above, a multi-layered security architecture has been put in place to eliminate any scope for disruption.
Senior district officials, including Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, along with City SP Kumar Shivashish, conducted extensive inspections of key procession routes and immersion points.

Rural SP Rishabh Garg has been tasked with overseeing security arrangements in the countryside. At a high-level review meeting, DIG Indrajeet Mahatha directed all senior officers to maintain heightened vigilance, ensure continuous patrolling, and gather real-time intelligence inputs until the conclusion of festivities.

The city has been strategically divided into 13 super zones and 35 zones. Senior administrative officers are heading the super zones, supported by DSP-rank officers, while gazetted officials are in charge of the zones. Additionally, 313 magistrates have been deployed to maintain law and order across critical points.

Security has been further intensified at 38 sensitive locations with barricading and drop gates, while all 17 police station areas are witnessing regular flag marches to reinforce public confidence.

The force deployment includes 1,300 district police personnel, supplemented by units from RAP, SSB, JAP, Jharkhand Jaguar, Rapid Action Force, and Home Guards. Quick Response Teams and JAP units have been stationed in highly sensitive pockets, while women personnel in plain clothes will keep vigil within processions tomorrow.

Areas such as Mango, Sakchi, Sitaramdera, Golmuri, Burmamines, Kadma, Jugsalai, Potka, and Musabani have been identified as highly sensitive zones, with close monitoring of individuals previously involved in disturbances.

Around 168 akharas—both licensed and unlicensed—are expected to participate in the grand immersion procession tomorrow, March 28.

Authorities have strictly mandated adherence to designated routes, prohibiting any last-minute changes. Processions will be under strict regulation, with bans imposed on provocative speeches, high-decibel DJs, fireworks, and the inclusion of animals. Videography of all processions has been made compulsory.

Immersion ghats have been levelled, barricaded, and well-lit, with divers deployed as a precautionary measure. The disaster management unit remains on high alert, while watchtowers have been erected at strategic points to monitor crowd movement and enable swift response.

At the heart of this elaborate security network is the Composite Control Room (CCR), functioning as the nerve centre, continuously tracking PCR units and Tiger Mobile patrols. Surveillance extends to all religious sites, ensuring that no tension or unrest takes root.
The administration is also maintaining a firm grip on the digital front. A dedicated social media monitoring unit, supported by police tech cells operating round-the-clock, is scanning online platforms for any inflammatory content.

Authorities have issued a stern warning that any attempt to incite communal disharmony will invite immediate action.

With redesigned traffic systems, zonal crowd management, continuous bike patrolling, and real-time public announcements through microphones and watchtowers, Jamshedpur stands fully prepared—ensuring that devotion takes centre stage, safeguarded by vigilance at every level.
