Jamshedpur, Oct 9: A 52-year-old man lost his life in a mishap while attempting to board a stationary passenger train at Tatanagar railway station on Sunday night .
The victim, identified as Devanand Singh, met with the unfortunate accident at platform number 2 while trying to board the Tata-Chhapra Express.
According to the railway police, the mishap occurred as Singh was ascending the steps of the train; his feet slipped , causing a fatal fall onto the tracks below. The impact resulted in grievous head injuries for the passenger.
Immediate medical attention was sought, and the victim was swiftly ferried to the Railway Hospital at Khasmahal. Despite the efforts of doctors, Singh succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.
Hailing from Rihia in the Munger district of Bihar, the victim was returning home after a visit to a relative’s house in Jamshedpur. The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the community, highlighting the unpredictable nature of such accidents that can occur during routine travel.
The railway police have sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary in Dimna for postmortem. Investigations into the circumstances leading to the mishap are underway with authorities working to determine if any additional safety measures or precautions could have averted this tragic incident.
