Jamshedpur traffic cops top in fine collection

Jamshedpur, Dec 14: Jamshedpur police has topped in terms of revenue collection despite catching less number of vehicles compared to neighbouring districts of Seraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum.

Jamshedpur police has caught vehicles four times less than Seraikela-Kharswan police and eight times less than Chaibasa police. However, in terms of collection of fines for offences related to helmetless drive, riding without mask and other violation of MVI norms, it exceeds that of the two districts.

Significantly, for helmetless riders the fine is Rs 1000 while riding without a mask has a penalty of Rs 500.

The number of traffic violation cases caught in Jamshedpur is 267 while cases in Seraikela-Kharsawan is 1124 and 2104 in Chaibasa.

Chaibasa police has fined 66 bikers riding without masks an amount of Rs 28,000, while Seraikela-Kharswan police has collected a revenue of Rs 48,000.

In Jamshedpur traffic police has collected Rs 52,000 from 52 riders without helmets and Rs 31,500 from 63 riders without masks. In the process a total of Rs 83,500 has been collected for traffic violation.

There is not a single seizure of vehicles in any of the three districts for traffic violation.

Significantly, acting on the directive of DGP Jharkhand, M. V Rao, the traffic checking drive was carried on Saturday.

In the state a total of Rs 3.45 lakh was collected during traffic checking drive on Saturday for riding without helmets and Rs 64,000 for riding without masks and Rs 70,000 for riding without driving licence.
