Jamshedpur: A controversial property seizure in Sakchi’s Kalimati Road area has sparked significant concern among the local business community. Landlords allegedly forcibly occupied “Shyam Car Care,” a shop Radheshyam Agrawal has owned for nearly 25 years, by evicting the occupants and removing goods overnight without legal process.
Business Community Demands Intervention
In response to the incident, a delegation from the East Singhbhum District Marwari Conference met with Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy to seek his intervention. Led by District President Mukesh Mittal and Joint General Secretary Akash Shah, the group demanded immediate justice for the Agrawal family.
Manoj Chowdhary, the newly elected Chairman of Seraikela Nagar Panchayat, also attended the meeting. He termed the incident a serious threat to the trading community and emphasized the need for swift administrative action. MLA Saryu Roy assured the delegation of his full support, pledging to assist the victim’s family in achieving a fair resolution.
Dispute Escalates into Robbery Allegations in Golmuri
A long-standing landlord-tenant dispute in Hem Singh Bagan (Golmuri) escalated sharply on Tuesday night, resulting in serious allegations of robbery and rising local tension.
Conflicting Claims
The two parties present starkly different versions of the night’s events:
-
The Tenant’s Allegation: Preeti Agarwal, wife of tenant Sonu Agarwal, lodged a formal police complaint. She alleges that landlord Amandeep Singh and others unlawfully entered the premises, changed the locks without notice, and seized their inventory. She has characterized the act as “outright robbery” and claims they have paid rent through March.
-
The Landlord’s Defense: Ashwin Singh dismissed the claims as baseless. He asserts that the tenants had occupied the shop for 28 years but recently agreed to vacate. According to the landlord, Sonu Agarwal accepted a ₹5 lakh advance on March 15 and officially vacated the premises on March 23.
Police Investigation
The Agarwal family refutes the landlord’s claims, citing online transaction records as evidence that they remained in legal possession of the shop. Golmuri Police have initiated an investigation to verify these conflicting statements and restore order to the neighborhood.
