Police probe angles of business rivalry and illegal liquor trade
Jamshedpur: Forty-year-old trader Chhabi Lala Lohar, a resident of Kalyan Nagar in Bhuiyandih, was found dead in his own home under horrifying circumstances late last night.
The incident came to light in the early hours of Friday morning when Lohar’s wife discovered his lifeless body, drenched in blood, lying inside the house. Alarmed by the horrific scene, she immediately alerted neighbours, who rushed to the residence. With their help, Lohar was transported to MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH), where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Initial police reports suggest that a sharp-edged weapon was used in the murder. Bloodstains were discovered on the walls, bed, and floor, indicating a violent struggle and the gruesome nature of the attack. Investigators believe the killer may have known the layout of the house, possibly suggesting premeditation.
Upon receiving the alert, officers from the Sitaramdera police station arrived at the scene and began their investigation. The body was sent to MGM Medical College for post-mortem, which is expected to provide crucial details regarding the time and nature of death.
Sources indicate that the deceased, Chhabi Lala Lohar, was allegedly involved in the illegal liquor trade in the locality, a factor that is now under intense scrutiny. Police are investigating possible business rivalries or disputes stemming from these illicit activities.
“We are probing multiple angles, including personal enmity, financial disputes, and criminal rivalry,” said the Sitaramdera police station official. The victim’s wife is being questioned, as police try to ascertain the timeline of events and potential motives.
Police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in hopes of identifying any suspicious movements or potential suspects during the time of the crime. Investigators are also examining Lohar’s call records, financial transactions, and criminal history, if any, to uncover leads.
The crime scene has been sealed, and a forensic team has collected samples and evidence. Officials believe that the killer may have acted alone or had insider knowledge, though no suspects have yet been named.
The murder has left residents of Bhuiyandih and surrounding areas tense and alarmed, with many demanding swift justice and increased security. Local leaders and community members have called for a crackdown on illegal activities that may be fueling such violence.
The police have assured the public that the investigation is being conducted on a priority basis and that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
“This is a heinous crime that has deeply disturbed the community. We are confident that our team will solve the case at the earliest,” the official added.
