Jamshedpur/Ranchi, July 16: With four deaths on Thursday, July 16, the Covid-19 toll in Jharkhand has reached 42 and the number of cases has risen to 4,818. One each from Giridih, East Singhbhum, Ranchi and West Singhbhum succumbed to the virus on Thursday.
A woman, 51, who had tested Covid-19 positive two days ago, died at a hospital in the Giridih district on Thursday. She had returned from Bhagalpur in Bihar two days ago.

At Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur, two corona positives died. One of the patient is a 45-year-old man resident of Birsanagar in Jamshedpur while the second deceased is an 83-year-old resident of Chaibasa in West Singhbhum.
27 people have lost their life to coronavirus from July 1 to 15. The average death rate in the month of July is two deaths per day. The death toll in Jharkhand has climbed to 42.

The corona crisis in growing in Jharkhand. The average corona positive tally in the state in the month of July is 125. On Thursday, 242 positives were reported in Jharkhand till 10 pm. Earlier, 320 cases were reported on July 15 while 268 cases were reported in a single day on July 13.
Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand are nearing 5000 mark with 242 new cases reported on Thursday. With new cases the state tally has risen to 4818.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has reached 749. With 39 new cases reported on Thursday, July 16, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 749. July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur with 58 positives. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 39 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Thursday while 6 people have recovered and were discharged from TMH COVID-19 ward.

Of the 39 new positives on Thursday, 10 persons have travel history while 29 persons came in contact with other COVID patients. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
1 person each has returned from Chennai, Haryana, Bangalore, Maharashtra and 6 has travel history to Bihar. All the positives are residents of Jamshedpur city.
Jamshedpur recorded another corona death on Thursday, taking the death toll to 6. Within a span of just 16 days 6 corona positive patients have died.
The situation is alarming given the rising death toll in Kolhan region. But all the deceased have been suffering from critical disease.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Chatra 10, Dhanbad 13, Dumka 2, Garhwa 32, Giridih 7, Godda 3, Gumla 5, Hazaribagh 26, Jamtara 3, Khunti 1, Koderma 27, Lohardaga 5, Pakur 5, Palamu 9, Ranchi 41, Simdega 10 and West Singhbhum 4 taking the state corona tally to 4818.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 2228 and fatalities at 42 while 2513 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 741 cases out of a total of 4818. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
