Jamshedpur to host maiden Winter Sports Fair and Camp

Jamshedpur, Dec 12:  Tata Steel Sports Department will organise first-ever Winter Sports Camp 2023, taking place from December 24 to 31 at the JRD Tata Sports ComplexThe camp aims to create awareness about fitness, wellness, and the benefits of pursuing a healthy lifestyle amongst the young generation (6 to 18 years) and encourage them to take up sports activities. The opening ceremony will be held on December 24, and the camp will conclude with a prize distribution on December 31, said Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel.
Addressing a press conference at JFC Media Room on Tuesday, Chanakya Chaudhary said, “The maiden Winter Sports Camp being organised by Tata Steel Sports Department this year will add more colour, vibrancy, sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst the citizens of Jamshedpur in the winter season. This again is a testament to our unwavering commitment and support to foster a culture of fitness, well-being and healthy living amongst residents of our operating locations. Recently, we have also organised sporting activities for senior citizens. Hope this camp would be a pleasing holistic experience for the participants, parents and family members as well.”The camp will run from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with swimming sessions scheduled from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A wide range of sports will be available for participants to choose from, including swimming, horse riding, badminton, cricket, roller skating, lawn tennis, basketball, chess, table tennis, football, athletics, volleyball, yoga, and Zumba.Registration fees for participation in the camp are as follows:  Rs 150 per participant for  Yoga / Zumba (Open for all). Rs 200 for  Chess / Table Tennis / Football / Athletics/Volleyball.

Rs 250 for Badminton / Cricket / Roller Skating / Lawn Tennis / Basketball and Rs 400 for Swimming / Horse Riding.

Starting from this year, Tata Steel Sports Department plans to establish this camp as an annual event.

In addition to the regular participants, the Winter Camp will also welcome 30 special children (through Special Olympic Bharat-Jharkhand) and 50 community children. The opening ceremony on December 24 will feature a Christmas Carnival with various attractions such as a soft play area, live music band, and food stalls.

Additionally, there will be a session on Sports Psychology and Nutrition for parents who are interested in their children pursuing sports as a career.
