Jamshedpur, Nov 22: Preparations are underway for two major sporting events scheduled to be held at the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex—The Great Jharkhand Run on December 14, 2025, and the 5th Jharkhand State Masters Athletics Championship on December 13 and 14, 2025. A meeting to finalise arrangements was held at the Telco Officers Club, where officials discussed event planning, participant numbers, logistics, and the distribution of official entry forms.
The Great Jharkhand Run – December 14
The popular 5 km run will be held in multiple age categories for both men and women.
Men’s categories include 12–18 years, 18–30 years, 30–39 years, 40–49 years, 50–59 years, and above 60 years.
Women’s categories include 12–18 years, 18–30 years, 30–39 years, and above 40 years.
Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each category, with ₹2,500 for first place, ₹1,500 for second place, and ₹1,000 for third. All participants will receive T-shirts, finisher medals, and refreshments upon completing the race.
State Masters Athletics Championship – December 13 & 14
The Masters Championship, open to athletes above 30 years of age, will follow the standard 5-year age group classifications under Masters Athletics rules.
Men’s events include 100m, 400m, 3 km race walk, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw.
Women’s events include 100m, 200m, 1 km race walk, long jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw.

Officials present at the preparatory meeting included Vijay Singh, President of the Masters Athletics Association of Jharkhand; Chairman Gurdev Singh; General Secretary S.K. Tomar; Vice President Avtar Singh; Harbinder Singh; and R.P. Pandey.
The Masters Athletics Association of Jharkhand has encouraged athletes and fitness enthusiasts across the state to participate and help make both events a grand success.
