Jamshedpur, March 10: East Singhbhum district police department is planning to build seven police posts and watch towers across the city with the view to curb crime.
“The new police posts and watch towers would be constructed at all entry points of the city. This would help us nab criminals fleeing after committing crime in the city,” said DSP Kamal Kishore.
The DSP informed that police personnel would be deputed at the police posts and watch towers round the clock on rotation basis. Police officers and guards would be deputed here. In case we need to seal the city limits, we will be able to do so and nab the culprits, he said.
The construction work has been started. By April end, the work would be completed and the police posts and watch towers would be handed over to the police department. An estimate in this regard has been prepared, said the DSP.
The project would cost Rs 3.15 crore to the department. Every police post and watch tower would const Rs 45 lakh. They will have all basic amenities and would be fitted with CCTV cameras. The on-duty officers would be connected to the Police Control Room and local police stations, said the DSP. The posts and watch towers would be built near Kharkai Bridge at Bstupur, Kadma toll plaza, Domuhani-Kanderbera Bridge, Anna Chowk Govindpur, MGM Medical College roundabout, Pardih Chowk and Sakchi roundabout.
