Jamshedpur to face traffic curbs on December 29 for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit

Jamshedpur, Dec 27: Several major roads in Jamshedpur will remain closed for the general public on December 29 in view of the visit of President of India Droupadi Murmu.

The district administration has issued a detailed traffic advisory to ensure smooth security arrangements and maintenance of law and order during the President’s visit.

According to a joint order issued by Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey and Traffic DSP Neeraj, traffic restrictions will be enforced from 9 am to 4 pm on key routes connected to the President’s movement.

Roads from Sonari Airport to Bistupur, and further from Bistupur to NIT Jamshedpur (Adityapur), will remain closed for public use during this period.

In addition, movement of all commercial vehicles including auto-rickshaws and buses will be completely prohibited between 9 am and 4 pm on the stretch from Sonari Airport to Dishom Jaherthan, Karandih, and from Circuit House to Kharkai Gol Chakkar.

The restrictions have been imposed purely on security grounds.

To facilitate commuters, the administration has announced alternative routes.

People travelling from Mango towards Seraikela, Potka, Chaibasa and adjoining areas may use the Marine Drive route via Adityapur–Gamharia.

Those coming from Potka, Hata and Odisha towards Mango Bus Stand can proceed through Seraikela, Kandra, Gamharia and Marine Drive, and then towards Sitaramdera Bus Stand and Mango Bridge.

Vehicles heading towards Tatanagar Railway Station from Kadma, Bistupur, Mango or Sakchi should take the route via RD Tata Gol Chakkar, Sunsunia Gate, Burma Mines Gol Chakkar, TRF Mode and Star Talkies.

In emergency situations, vehicles coming from Sundernagar and Karandih towards Sakchi will be allowed through LBSM College, Ghaghidih Jail, Lal Building Chowk, DB Chowk, Bata Chowk, Jugsalai Phatak Chowk and Jugsalai Gol Chakkar.

Meanwhile, vehicles travelling from Mango or Sakchi to Ghatshila and Musabani will be diverted via Dimna.

All essential services will be allowed to operate strictly under the supervision and control of deployed police officials.

Furthermore, in view of the programme, entry of all heavy vehicles including trucks, trailers and dumpers will remain prohibited from 6 am to 11 pm on December 29 across the city.

The district administration has appealed to citizens to co-operate with the traffic arrangements and follow the prescribed routes to avoid inconvenience during the President’s visit.
