Jamshedpur, July 14: A fifteen-day film screening programme is being held by the Cine Chaupal Unit of Mass Communication Department, Karim City College. Titled Seven Classics of Indian Cinema, it will be screened from July 14 to July 27. Under this programme, selected films from the history of Indian cinema will be shown to the students so that they can get information related to film history and its development. These films, being shown purely from the point of view of education, will give information about the philosophy of Indian life as well as technology to the students, so that they will be able to learn to evaluate films.
The silent film ‘Raja Harishchandra’ and ‘Jamai Babu’ were screened on the first day of the occasion. During the programme, Untouchable Girls, Neecha Nagar, Awara, Jagte Raho, Mother India, Bhuvan Shome will be screened. After the screening of the film, a programme of discussion on them has also been organised so that the students can communicate with each other on all aspects related to cinema. The principal of the college, Dr. Mohammad Riaz welcomed the initiative. The head of the department, Dr Neha Tiwary, congratulated Tushar Gupta, student coordinator of Choupal team and team members Jagriti Bahle, Jayanto Baske, Subroto Madi and Chunaram for this event. A total of 50 students of the department participated on the first day of the said programme. Dr. Rashmi Kumari, and Syed Sajid from the department were also present in the programme.
