Jamshedpur, Feb 13: Three youths were killed in a road accident on the Seraikela-Kandra main road on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Jeetrai Tudu, Ledam Soren and Tinku Tudu, all residents of Seraikela.

Sources said the unfortunate incident occurred around 7 pm between Jeevanpur-Kolabira and Fleetguard company. The three friends were returning from Sarmali after watching a football match. They rode a bike from the football venue and were passing through Fleetguard company when a 16-wheeler truck came speeding from the front. The bike rammed into the truck head-on. The three friends died at the scene after sustaining critical injuries.

After the mishap, the truck driver escaped from the scene. A large number of villagers gathered at the spot and blocked the road in protest. They alleged that reckless drivers were taking lives of the innocent every other day, thus making the highway dangerous for commuters.

Khunti MP’s representative Shamhu Mandal and local leaders rushed to the scene after learning about the incident.
