Jamshedpur: The court of Additional District Judge IV Ajit Kumar Singh sentenced the three convicts of Kiran Tilwani murder case to life imprisonment on Wednesday. Those convicted in this case are Vinod Khatri, Manish Agrawal and Mantu Agrawal.
Kiran Tilwani, owner of an electric shop in Golmuri, was shot in front of his house in Refugee Colony under Golmuri PS around 9 pm on 10th December 2010. He was critically injured in the incident and was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi where he died on 22nd December.
The killing had led city traders to take to the streets to demand arresting of the culprits and protection to all members of the business community. The then DGP Neyaz Ahmad had camped in the city for few days in view of the volatile situation in the city. Police had provided police bodyguard to Harish Tilwani, brother of the deceased trader, after the murder. The FIR in this case was lodged on 11th December 2010.
According to the FIR, Harish Tilwani told police he was returning home after closing his shop when Vinod Khatri and Mantu Agrawal allegedly shot his brother.
As per the prosecution, Manish Agrawal had hatched the conspiracy to kill Tilwani. A total of 19 witnesses were examined in this case. Vinod Khatri, currently in Dumka Central Jail, heard the court verdict on his punishment through video conferencing. Manish and Mantu were out on bail. They were taken into police custody after the court pronounced the sentence.
