SP City assures action against culprits, ADM says situation in control

Jamshedpur, Oct 31: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy Monday alleged that the attack on Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha (BJM) workers and supporters at Surya Mandir in Sidhgora was the handiwork of a gang of criminals. He demanded stringent action against the culprits by the district administration. He said he would meet Chief Minister Hemant Soren and demand a high level probe into the incident.

“All the BJM supporters were unarmed. The culprits included Bhola Singh who is a convict. He was there at the Surya Mandir. The husband of Bulletrani was also present along with the other culprits. He was released on parole from the jail. He was sitting at the Surya Mandir with the DC and SP and talking to them. An inquiry should be conducted and his parole should be cancelled immediately,” said Roy.

Roy said the BJM workers had decided not to take the law in their hands. He said his party workers had gone to the temple to prepare for the distribution of various necessary items for Chhath Puja among the devotees on 29^th October last. Just then a gang of armed criminals assaulted the BJM workers and supporters in a pre-planned manner, he said.

SP City K Vijay Shankar said both sides had given written complaints in connection with the case and separate cases have been registered at the Sidhgora police station. He said a probe was on and assured to take action against the culprits.

ADM (law and order) Nand Kishore Lal said, “An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident. Police probe is on. There is no law and order problem at the Surya Mandir as of now and the situation is in control. Logical action in the case would be ensured.”
