Jamshedpur, Feb 8: A large-scale cleanliness and voluntary service drive was organised at Domuhani Ghat on Sunday morning, highlighting strong community participation and growing awareness about environmental protection. The drive was held at the sacred confluence of the Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from students, who made up nearly 90 per cent of the volunteers. Students and teachers from Kerala Public School and Tata Workers Union School actively took part in the cleaning activity, showing discipline and commitment to social responsibility.
Members of the Lions Club, Inner Wheel Club, social activist Chandan Mahto, Veer Rudra Pratap, Gaurav and his team, along with several conscious citizens, also joined the initiative and contributed through voluntary labour. Their collective effort helped spread a strong message on the importance of keeping rivers clean.
Organisers said the drive was not limited to waste collection but aimed at building awareness and encouraging moral values among the younger generation. They noted that the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by students proved that youth play a vital role in bringing positive change.
School principals across Jamshedpur were urged to involve students in environmental activities and support the Swachhata pukare campaign. The event concluded with a pledge promoting clean rivers and a healthy society.
