Jamshedpur student dies in mishap on Dobo-Kanderbera Road

Jamshedpur: An 18-year-old youth, Mohammed Zunaid, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident near Dobo under the Kapali Thana outpost in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday morning. The mishap occurred when the motorcycle he was riding skidded off the road and plunged into a khud (gorge), fatally injuring him.

A resident of Millat Nagar in Jugsalai, Zunaid was a bright student of Karim City College. According to his family, he had informed them that he was heading to Dobo with friends for an outing. During a joyride along the Dobo-Kanderbera road, Zunaid reportedly accelerated his motorcycle at high speed and lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into the gorge.

The youth, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained a severe head injury after hitting a boulder. His friends, who were riding separate motorcycles, immediately rushed him to Tata Main Hospital. However, doctors on emergency duty declared him dead.

The news of Zunaid’s untimely demise cast a pall of gloom over Millat Nagar, where grieving friends, family, and neighbors gathered in mourning.

Local residents and authorities have raised concerns about the increasing number of accidents and drowning cases in the area. Ever since the construction of the Domuhani bridge over the Kharkai River in Sonari, the newly accessible Dobo-Kanderbera road has become a popular hangout spot for youngsters. However, the trend has also brought a surge in fatal incidents, especially involving two-wheelers and water bodies near Dobo Dam.

Police have urged young bikers to follow safety norms, including wearing helmets and avoiding speeding, to prevent further tragedies.
