Jamshedpur: St Mary’s English School Alumni Association host’s maiden Reunion 

Jamshedpur, December 11: Alumni of Bistupur-based St Mary’s English High School, amongst the oldest English medium school in Kolhan (established in 1943) held their first Reunion at the school auditorium on Sunday.

Nearly 80 alumni members of the school, including some from Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi attended the celebrations which was held in the presence of nearly 30 former and present teachers and non-teaching staff of the school.

The alumni association, which would be soon be registered under Societies Act in Jharkhand has pledged to support underprivileged students of their alma mater pursue their studies apart from hosting regular session for current students to help them in career selection and other aspects. The association has also taken a pledge to use the collective energy of nearly 800 members to help members and current students of the school in all walks of life.

It was announced to help a 1995 batch member Amit Kumar Mahato through crowdfunding for meeting medical expense to the tune of Rs 38 lakh for his five-year-old daughter who has to undergo bone marrow transplant at Apollo Hospital Delhi.

The program began with ceremonial lamp lighting done by the former and current teachers of the school.

School principal Father Vernon D’Souza and school manager and St Mary’s Church parish priest Father Edward Saldanha and school secretary Father David Vincent gave their best wishes and blessing to the Reunion through video messages as they could not attend the program due to prior commitments.

There were series of cultural programs including a kathak dance performance by tenth grader of the school Apurba Sen.

All the former and current teachers who attended the Reunion were felicitated by the members.
