Jamshedpur SSP opens Rotary sponsored library at Maoist-hit Jhunjhka village

Jamshedpur, July 4: Continuing their social�initiatives,�Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City with the support of Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur, Anoop Birtharay, has set up two libraries in and around Jamshedpur with an aim to cater to the need of the society with focus on children of rural areas.

 A library has been opened in Police line Golmuri and Maoist affected Jhunjhka village of East Singhbhum district.

The project was initiated by Amish Mehta, member of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City, who arranged around 900 books, LCD TV, racks, chairs, tables and lights with the support of President of Rotary Steel City Simran Saggu, Secretary Nikita Mehta, Kamal Makati, Amish Mehta, Jitesh Taunk, Garvita Taunk and others.

President of Rotary Steel City Simran Saggu said, ‘East Singhbhum district has a vast Rural Population and some of the rural pockets of East Singhbhum are affected by LWE insurgency. Constant efforts are being made by Police in these areas through our social awareness programmes to interact with the villagers and make their life easier.

 During one such program the villagers of Jhunjhka Village which falls under Jorsa Panchayat of Patamda Police requested that a library be set up in their village so that the village youth who cannot afford to buy expensive books can get some of the books which are essential for their academic and literary growth’, she added.

Library was set up in Police line for the welfare of the kids of the Police Personnel. The beneficiary student and youth at Jhunjhka village are 160 kids and the police lines the number is 200. Rotary Club Jamshedpur Steel City also distributed stationeries and sweets among the children of Jhunjhka.

The library was inaugurated by SSP Anoop Birtharay at both the places. Additional SP Pranav Anand Jha has supported the project and backed the event by providing security for execution of project as the village is Maoist affected area. He is been continuously working in such areas for betterment of villagers and protecting them.
