Jamshedpur: Jharkhands first cyber forensic laboratory is all set to be set up in Jamshedpur. The lab is proposed to be opened beside the Cyber Police Station in Bistupur. The state government has released a fund of Rs 1 crore for this purpose. This was informed on Wednesday by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jamshedpur, Anoop Birtharay.
All kinds of tests related to cyber crime will soon be performed in Jamshedpur. Earlier, the mobile phones, laptops, PAN cards and other electronic gadgets and devices were sent outside the city for forensic testing. Once the forensic lab comes into existence, we will get the tests done here locally, he said.
The SSP said tech savvy officers would be appointed in the lab. The lab will be ready in the next couple of months. Mobile phones would also be examined and tested in the lab. We will be able to retrieve all photos, chats, messages, emails and other data deleted from mobile phones. DVR analyser machines would help clearly read the hazy photos and registration numbers. Password cracking tools would also be available to unlock passwords, he said.
