Jamshedpur: Jharkhand is currently experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures soaring past 40 degrees Celsius in most districts. The Meteorological Department has warned that the heatwave will likely intensify in the coming days, with temperatures expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees further.
The industrial city of Jamshedpur has been hit hard by the heatwave, with the mercury touching 40 degrees Celsius, which is 6.4 degrees above the seasonal average. The minimum temperature has also remained unusually high at 20.7 degrees Celsius. Daltonganj has recorded a maximum temperature of 40.7 degrees, which is a staggering 7.5 degrees above normal. Meanwhile, Chaibasa has seen its maximum temperature reach 41 degrees Celsius, an increase of 7.6 degrees above the expected norm.
The Meteorological Center at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, has predicted that Jamshedpur’s temperature will further rise, touching 41 degrees Celsius on Sunday, March 16. The night will also remain warm, with a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest nights recorded this season.
Ranchi: The capital is currently recording a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, which is 6.1 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature stands at 20 degrees Celsius. The Hinoo area of Ranchi has seen consistently high temperatures over the past few days. Bokaro: The heatwave has also gripped Bokaro, where the maximum temperature has reached 40.1 degrees Celsius, 7.6 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature has risen to 18.5 degrees Celsius, 4.6 degrees higher than usual.
Daltonganj: The city is expected to see a further rise, with temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius during the day and 19 degrees at night.
With temperatures continuing to rise, residents of Jharkhand are growing increasingly concerned about when relief might arrive. Meteorologists have stated that the intense heat is likely to persist for the next few days, with no immediate signs of cooling. Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
As the heatwave intensifies, Jharkhand residents are bracing for even higher temperatures in the coming days, hoping for some respite soon.
