Jamshedpur Sikh community protests ‘Manmarziyan’ screening

Jamshedpur, Sept. 19: The Sikh community of Jamshedpur led by Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) President Gurmukh Singh Mukhe and Shailendar Singh on Wednesday protested against the screening of Anurag Kashyap’s film Manmarziyan before P&M Mall in Bistupur for hurting their religious sentiments with the depiction of certain scenes in the film.
People of the Sikh community shouted slogans against Anurag Kashyap and demanded a ban on the screening of the film.

According to Gurmukh Singh, in the movie, actors Abhishek Bachchan and Taapse Pannu, both shown as Sikhs characters, have been filmed while smoking cigarettes, which is a major humiliation to the community.
The agitated Sikhs raised slogans against the director of the movie, Anurag Kashyap, Bollywood star, Abhishek Bachan, Censor Board of India and other actors.
