Jamshedpur: Sidhgora Surya Mandir Samiti to host grand Kite festival on Makar Sankranti

Jamshedpur, Jan 14: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the Sidhgora Surya Mandir Samiti is set to organize a grand kite festival on January 15. The event, aimed at celebrating the traditional sport of kite flying, will take place at Shankh Maidan within the Surya Mandir premises. Bhupendra Singh, President of the Surya Mandir Samiti, shared the details of the festival in a press release, inviting the people of Jamshedpur and surrounding areas to join in the festivities.

The kite festival will feature a vibrant competition, where the three best kite flyers will receive first, second, and third prizes. Bhupendra Singh emphasized the importance of preserving the tradition of kite flying, a sport deeply rooted in our cultural heritage.

The event will begin with a ritual worship of Lord Bhaskar, followed by the distribution of khichdi, chokha, and chutney as bhog prasad to over 5,000 devotees at the Son Mandap premises. Singh urged the local youth to participate enthusiastically in the festival, not only to enjoy the entertainment but also to honor the rich cultural traditions of the region. The kite festival promises to be a celebration of both fun and cultural pride, bringing the community together in the spirit of Makar Sankranti.
