Jamshedpur sees slight decline in fresh Covid cases, logs 906 infections

COVID kitty: 1 death, 317 recoveries  

Jamshedpur, Jan 13:  Jamshedpur registered a slight decline in daily Covid-19 cases, with 906 people testing positive for the virus while one person succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours, East Singhbhum Covid-19 bulletin said on Thursday.

The fresh infections were 0.83 per cent less than Wednesday when Jamshedpur logged 1280 cases.

Jamshedpur’s positivity rate – the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests – was 10.28 per cent with the latest addition in cases. 8813 samples were tested on Thursday.

The city has been producing a tidal wave of cases over the past days and the surge is believed to be driven by the Omicron variant. The variant is highly transmissible, according to experts.

East Singhbhum’s death toll went up to 1083 as one person succumbed to the virus on Thursday.

Fresh infections on Thursday total active cases in the city to 7148.

80 cases have been reported from Mango, 90 from Sakchi, 3 each from Burmamines and Patamda, 108 from Sonari, 20 from Ghatsila, 15 from Sidhgora, 17 from Birsanagar, 25 from Golmuri, 70 from Telco, 113 from Kadma, 62 from Bistupur, 16 from Bagbera, 10 from Chakulia, 29 from Parsudih, 18 from Musabani, 14 from Potka, 38 from Baridih, 8 from Burmamines, 18 from Jugsalai, 26 from Dumaria, 13 from Bahragora, 10 from Sitaramdera, 4 from Sundernagar, 2 from Dhalbhumgarh and 94 from different areas of city.     

The positivity rate rose to 2.89 per cent in Jamshedpur.

The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 61074 and the death count is now 1083, according to the latest health bulletin.

The new cases came out of the 8813 tests conducted on Thursday. There are 7148 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur.

As many 52843 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 317 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. 8813 COVID-19 tests, including 2308 RT-PCR, 6174 RAT and 331 TrueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.

The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 793249 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 87.83% while the mortality rate is 1.77%.

So far in Jamshedpur 2113768 samples have been collected out of which 2111628 have been tested and 2050554 have turned out to be negative.
