Jamshedpur: Security beefed up for Ram Navami procession today, ‘No-entry’ of heavy vehicles to remain effective from 12 noon

Jamshedpur, March 25 : With an aim to ensure peaceful Ramnavmi the East Singhbhum administration has made elaborate arrangements. The administration has deployed adequate policemen and paramilitary personnel to prevent any untoward incident. Several sensitive areas have been identified and Rapid Action Force jawans will be posted accordingly.

While ‘No-entry’ of heavy vehicles will remain effective from 12 noon tomorrow, any kind of vehicles, including two-wheeler will be allowed to ply at the Sakchi roundabout and on Mango-Pardi road from around the same time (12 noon).

Revealing about the vehicular traffic management, deputy superintendent of police (traffic) Vivekanand Thakur said that the No-entry will be effective from Monday’s 12 noon till 6 am on Tuesday.

The DSP (traffic) said the processions which will emerge from the areas like Telco, Golmuri, Kashidih and Burmamines are to take a turn toward Bengal Club from the Sakchi roundabout.
Deployment of police and para-military forces has also been made at the sensitive places in Mango, Sakchi, Golmuri, Parsudih, Telco, Bistupur, Sakchi and Jugsalai area.

In all 207 processions, including 175 licensed Akharas of the Ramnavami will be taken out for the immersion in Kharkai and Subernarekha rivers on Monday.

Revealing about the security arrangement, superintendent of police (city) Prabhat Kumar said 3,000 police and paramilitary forces have been deployed.

Moreover movement of heavy vehicles will be stopped on the day of the procession while private vehicles will be restricted in the city after 2pm.

“After directions from the district administration we have asked the akhara committees to avoid using glass tubes and kerosene during procession as the two items are very dangerous,” said R B Singh, senior functionary of Central Peace Committee.
