Jamshedpur: Sea of heads pours on to streets leading to DC office

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Nov 18: It was indeed a Festival of Democracy teaser a la film trailers as a sea of heads poured onto all roads leading to the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioners office campus where all parties and independents came with their leaders and supporters to file their nominations for the districts six Assembly seats on the last day of this exercise for the second phase election for the ticket to the dome of Jharkhand power at Capital Ranchi.

Tribal dancers in gaily coloured costumes performing to traditional drum beats and musical bands added to the air of excitement to many an expectation that will culminate in ballot machines on December 7. The EVMs at the polling booths for the six district seats will seal all the Zindabaads for the ultimate say on the political roulette wheel of fortune or otherwise.

The aura of ambitions also glowed in Ghatshila where Vidhan Sabha contestants along with their own galaxies of leaders and supporters swarmed in to file their legislative forms of dreams in the SDO Court. The candidates seemed confident as did the crowds backing their individual husting hopes.

The coin of legislative fate and dreams has been flipped. It is for the voters to call heads or tails. The point is, there is no batting or fielding side. Like the glorious game of uncertainties, the political pitch too might offer seam movement or spin. It depends on how one reads the seam position or the sleight of hand. It is difficult to read how the ball of fate behaves on a tricky political pitch.
